Italian immigration rules on student visas and stay permits: The most recent Italian legislation on immigration, with specific reference to students and stay permits is as follows. It is now essential to ensure that ALL foreigners coming to study an accredited academic course at Monash Prato Centre must have the appropriate immigration status/visa requirements. Please allow minimum of 3 weeks for turnaround of visa approval. b) Within 8 days of arrival into Italy, either file the declaration of presence (if they stay in Italy for less than 90 days) at the Questura/Italian police, or the apply for the stay permit (if they stay for more than 90 days). c) Please note that there is a cost involved with student visa application. Please liaise directly with the relevant Consulate. NB: Schengen Visa arrangement: the uniform visa issued by a Schengen State authorizes entry for short stay in or transit to the Schengen area for a period not exceeding 90 days.
