Scholarships and Fellowships

The Bill Kent Prato Research Fellowship

Named after the Prato Centre's Founding Director, this fellowship is available to early career researchers with a permanent or fixed term appointment at Monash University. The applicant must provide a rationale for being based in Prato, and identify benefits to their research and to Monash that would result.  Rationales could include:

  • To meet with locally based experts, or to undertake part of a research project with Europe-based colleagues.
  • To access specialist facilities eg. the European University Institute library, archives, or scientific facilities;
  • To conduct fieldwork in the local community.

The fellowship may be taken up as part of an approved Outside Studies Program. Applications must receive Department and Faculty endorsement.

Australian European University Institute Fellowships

The European University Institute (EUI) and the Australian European University Institute Fellowships Association Incorporated (AEUIFAI) offers fellowships for Australian researchers, both established and early career, to avail themselves of the resources and intellectual environment of the EUI. The Sardinian Cultural Association (Vic) Inc. Travelling Scholarship

Support from the Sardinian Cultural Association (Vic) Inc. in collaboration with the Monash University Prato Centre is available to assist with the travelling expenses of students undertaking study or research in Italy. Australian and international full-time or part-time enrolled candidates are eligible.

Prerequisite: a close association with Monash University Prato Centre

Honours Scholarship - School of Historical Studies

The School of Historical Studies, in conjunction with the Monash University Prato Centre, offers a summer scholarship for honours students whose research topic would be advanced by a month spent at Prato. In particular, making use of library and archive facilities of the local Tuscan Region.
