Organising cultural events

The Monash University Prato Centre hosts a wide range of cultural events including exhibitions, concerts and theatre that showcase the work of our students, together with the work of artists from the local community in Prato and from Australia. See Events Calendar.

We welcome inquiries but stress that the Prato Centre is not able to finance such ventures.

Performance space

The Salone is suitable for performances and concerts with a maximum capacity of 160 people. There are adjoining rooms suitable for use as backstage areas and reception areas.

Exhibition studio space

  • Three studios are available as exhibition space, each measuring approx 30 square metres (see Centre tour)
  • Each studio is fitted with 2.3 m high false (medium density fibreboard) walls
  • False walls are fitted with a track lighting system with adjustable 12V spots. These are non-focusable and non-shuttered but may be directed to illuminate specific areas of the walls
  • Each studio has a central pendant light fitting
  • All windows have outer shutters to block out natural light

By special arrangement other spaces may be used throughout the building for installations or for the hanging of pictures, provided this does not interfere with other activities taking place at the Centre.

Please note: The Centre does NOt have air-conditioning.
