Organising coursesWe welcome proposals from all centres and faculties of Monash University for the development of undergraduate, postgraduate, single unit and continuing education courses at Prato.
We also welcome proposals from other academic institutions regarding possible collaborations or the hosting of study abroad units at the Centre. Classrooms and teaching facilitiesThe Centre has a series of teaching spaces and can cater for groups of various sizes - the maximum number of students that can be accommodated in the building at any one time is approximately 130. Audio visual equipmentThe following audiovisual equipment is available to be booked by course coordinators:
Art studiosThe Centre has 3 studio areas suitable for courses of Fine Arts, Architecture, Design etc. The studios are fitted with false walls, track lighting and protective floor coverings and can hold a maximum of 25 students at any given time. The Centre can provide easels and drawing boards, but art supplies are the responsibility of course co-ordinators. Facilities for studentsComputer labs and printing: The Centre is data cabled throughout and has a high speed internet connection. Three computer laboratories are available for student use with a total of 24 networked PCs. All PCs are loaded with basic office programmes and are connected to a networked printer.
Wireless internet: A free, secure wireless network is available throughout most rooms in the Centre. Library: The Centre has a small collection of reference books which students are welcome to consult on site. A collection of fiction titles are also available and can be taken off the premises. (Student ID numbers must be left with staff when books are borrowed). Photocopying: Prepaid cards are available to enable students to use a photocopier in the centre. There are no telephone, fax or locker facilities for students. Students are welcome to make use of recreational areas during opening hours (9am -- 6pm, Monday to Friday). Facilities for staffOffices: The Centre has five offices set aside for visiting teaching and research staff, two with three desks, two with two desks, and one with a single desk. Each office has telephone and data points which are connected to the networked printers. Staff can arrange access to the Centre's photocopier and fax, as well as access to secure car parking behind the Centre. (Please note: permits to enter the car park need to be organised in advance with Monash staff as the car park is located in the pedestrian zone area. Staff intending to use the car park must also collect automatic gate-openers in advance.) Library: Library facilities are limited. Programme co-ordinators are encouraged to maximise the use of electronic materials and digitisation of appropriate course materials. Monash course coordinators should contact the Monash Library to organise student access to resource materials in Prato. Accommodation and travel: We strongly recommend that course co-ordinators work through a travel agency to arrange group travel and accommodation. The Centre does not have residential accommodation, but staff can advise as to suitable apartment or hotel accommodation and will liaise with course organisers to ensure groups receive Monash University Prato Centre rates. The Centre is not able to organise individual student accommodation bookings. Italian language: For non-language programmes we can assist with organising individual or small group Italian language classes (on a user-pays basis). Inform yourself of Italian visa requirementsIt is the responsibility of visitors to the Centre to inform themselves of Italian visa requirements and make suitable arrangements. |
