From here to Eternity: Contemporary Tapestries from the Victorian Tapestry Workshop
The Monash University Prato Centre will host the exhibition “From Here to Eternity: Contemporary Tapestries from the Victorian Tapestry Workshop” from the 14th of April to the 6th of June.
The exhibition, promoted by the Victorian Tapestry Workshop in Melbourne, has been organised in collaboration with the Textile Museum in Prato and with the patronage of the Comune and the Provincia of Prato.
This exhibition, which includes twenty-seven pieces from the Melbourne collection, can be considered as an open path which connects Palazzo Vaj, in the heart of Prato historic centre, to the Textile Museum in Via Santa Chiara: most of the collection is in fact exposed at the Monash Centre, but two pieces are hosted at the Textile Museum.
It is not by chance that Prato was selected to host this exhibition. The city offers an ideal setting not only because it is one of the most important centres for the textile manufacturing, but also seen as it is a point of reference for the art of textile, thanks to the Textile Museum. Moreover, the Monash University Prato Centre, in addition to its numerous academic activities, acts as a showcase for Australian art and culture.
